"Songe" is a walk through the streets of Saint-Denis de la Réunion. Saint-Denis is the capital and the main economic basin of this island located in the western Indian Ocean.
This series of photographs aims to question this very urban part of Reunion Island which does not correspond to the collective imagination.

In 1946, the departmentalization law changed the political status of the island: from a former colony, it became a French department. The repercussions will be felt from the 1950s on the urban centers of Reunion, their lifestyles and their architecture.
Struggling between the challenges inherited from its colonial past and brutal urbanization, The young people I met there were all crossed by a tension between here and elsewhere, between leaving or staying.
