INVISIBLE THREADS - Ekaterina Pavlova

"I always felt that there was more to my life than just my story. It's as if invisible threads connect me to something ancient, going deep into the past, beyond the boundaries of my personal experience."

"The idea for this project originated with my third pregnancy. I was completely unprepared for the fact that I would soon become a mother with many children. There are questions, what does the universe want to do in the world through me in this way? What kind of generic program am I supposed to solve? So I began to delve into the topic of the genus and went on a generic retreat. Today, this research is central not only to my thinking, but also to my creative search.

Each of us is not just an individual, but also a link in an endless chain of generations, a carrier of a large amount of unique information. Our values, beliefs, fears, talents, health and complexes are passed down from the depths of centuries, passing from generation to generation. At the genetic level, every person, whether they realize it or not, adopts knowledge and experience from their ancestors, which inevitably affects their fate and life."

"Studying family history, I discovered that no one before me was interested in restoring the family tree. In the course of searching and collecting materials, I realized my special power and source of love for photography, which turned out to be associated with the hobby of one of my grandmothers during her studies.

I see myself as a guardian and a converter: something in me will open up, I will share it with the world and pass on knowledge to children. They, in turn, will carry away a piece of ancient wisdom contained in our origins and transmitted through invisible connections.

In the modern world, where values often change and are replaced, and external influences distort a person's idea of himself and his perception of the world around him, it is important to find support. In this series of papers, I explore how a person's connection with the genus affects his life. Through photographs, including personal archival photographs, art objects (rodorad and the painting "rod"), I demonstrate that visual forms are able to store and transmit unique information, like genes. This support is provided by the connection with the roots, with the past and traditions, the unique ancestral history of man. Only on a solid foundation can a large and durable House be built."
