This ongoing immersion project speaks to a deliberate slowing down in a hectic world.
How often do you stop to listen? Are you listening? How do we center ourselves? Are we able to listen amidst the interference?

I immerse myself within community gathering spaces in Chicago and, with my eyes closed, take notes of what I hear.
It’s an intense process — one that feels quite uncomfortable. The discomfort stems, not from having my eyes closed, but from the magnified sense of hearing when my eyes are closed. I find the process easier when there’s music playing within the environment.
Do we need our eyes in the city to buffer the noise?
